Down the Long, Windy Road

Need to get on with our story about our travels.  We left Clarkstown, WA and traveled on the Lolo Pass Road (Hwy12).  This is the same route that Lewis & Clark traveled when they ended up in Vancouver, Washington near Pat's house.  The road was beautiful but an adventure.

This road had more twists and turns than Highway 1 in California.  We followed the Clearwater River until we turned onto the Lochsa River. Well, you know how rivers never follow a straight line.  So we twisted and turned and that darn road wore us out.  We felt like we were in a wringer washing machine.  To add to the twists and turns, there was a major forest fire near Lowell, Idaho which actually closed the road the day before.  Boy, it was smoky - Hack, hack.
