Colonial National Historical Park

When we went to the Jamestown settlement, some things just did not seem accurate for the settlements time period.  The fences were perfect, ceilings were high, and, of course, the area was not on Jamestown Island.  Then George took us to Colonial National Historical Park, Jamestown.  Ah Ha!

Now the fences look more like they would have back in 1607.

And there were some archeologists excavating foundations of the original settlement.

Jim and George found the church, which is not an original since that one burned down.  I think they are going to do some reflection or another break.

The original site had some graves.  Notice that the crosses are inside the building?  That was not to let the Indians know how many really died those first few years.
