Steamboat Arabia Museum

A Must Visit!  Absolutely fascinating!  Steamboat Arabia caught a snag and sunk in the Missouri River quickly.

A snag is a submerged tree that acts like a torpedo.  All 130 persons survivied, but 200 tons of cargo was lost as it sunk into the river bottom.  In 1988, 5 men began excavation of the steamboat which was in a judge's field.  These are themany things they found.

and losts of shoes.

The steamboat also had Indian trade goods like these beads.

All the people survived the sinking but one poor mule did not.
