Bumpy, Bump

The next morning we left Hannibal, Missouri and traveled on Highway 79 to St. Louis.  Highway 79 is bumpy, twisty, windy, and in horrible shape.  The many bridges were in horrible shape to the point of near collaspe.  Signs approaching the bridges said not to exceed 15 miles per hour.  As we passed over the bridge, we saw crumbling concrete and exposed rebar. Did I say horrible?

The central part of Missouri we passed many poor farms.  Soybeans and corn is the main crops being grown in these parts.  The corn stalks are allowed to mature then dry out in the fields before it is harveted.  That is how you get cornflakes.

We finally arrived in Saint Louis and decided to camp across the Eads Bridge at the Casino Queen which is in East Saint Louis, Illinois.  From our campsite, you can see the famous St. Louis Arch.

The Arch is 630 feet tall.  We took a tram ride up to the top and looked all over the city.

From the top of the Arch, we also saw Busch Stadium.
