Joan and I went to Prairie du Chien to visit Villa Louis, the Dousman family home from 1843 until 1913. The Dousman family was rich and the home showed it. Consisting of 5 buildings constructed on an elevated mound along the Mississippi River, the site was retored to look like the mansion that it was in the 1890's.
The bricks along this path are original to the house except for a few that had to be replaced.
Cardinal Star: The shape of this flower bed is a 4 point star pointing east, west, south, and north.
This artesian well has been running with no mechanical help since 1843.
After touring the house, we went to Valley Fish & Cheese. Very unique!
