"Get your facts first, then you can distort them as you please." Mark Twain's boyhood home and inspiration for
Tom Sawyer was Hannibal, Missouri. We had an interesting afternoon exploring Samuel Clemens, aka Mark Twain, boyhood home. First, we went to the Mark Twain Museum to learn about this fascinating man.
Then we took a rest before we went to his boyhood home.
In front of his house, is the famous Tom Sawyer white washed fence. Looking at the fence reminds us of Uncle Pat's shared traits with Tom Sawyer.
Across the street is where Samuel Clemen's childhood sweetheart lived whom became the inspiration for Becky Thatcher in Tom Sawyer.
Many stores, streets, and restaurants are named after Mark Twain in the town of Hannibal.
