Travels Through the Dakotas

Early Sunday morning we left Gillette, Wyoming.  We traveled east for a hundred miles, then turned north at Spearfish, South Dakota.  This was the beginning of a very long 2 lane road through the country.  There was not much excitement along the way except for a Bison ranch, deer, and hawks.  When we arrived in Bowman, South Dakota, we made a wrong turn.  We made the most of it and decided to stop to have lunch.  Jim took Boo Boo out for a walk and rediscovered mosquitoes.

Upon leaving Bowman the right direction, we had only a few more miles on the 2 lane road.  Finally, we turned east on Interstate 94. Nice road! In fact, Jim wished that California had as decent highways as North Dakota.  Our destination for that evening was an Elks Lodge in Bismarck, North Dakota.  As we got closer to our destination, along the side of the road was the largest Holestein cow. You could see that thing for miles. Next day, we continued traveling along Interstate 94 to see the largest sand crane and the world's largest buffalo.  Can't wait to see what is next.

We ended up at Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.  We found a nice, roomy campground about 5 miles out of town. Lightning, thunder, rain, and a awesome rainbow finished our evening.

Boom, Boom, BOOM!

Ah, the finishing touch.
