Galena, Illinois With Aunt Judy and Uncle Gordie

The next day we drove to Galena, Illinois to have lunch with Aunt Judy and Uncle Gordie.  Galena is a historical, touristy town with many steeples on their churches.

Judy and Gordie took us to the De Soto Hotel.  Very Elegant!  Ulysses S. Grant had his election headquarters in this hotel.  Also, Abraham Lincoln gave a speech from the balcony.

After that, we went to Ulysses S. Grant's home for a tour.

Nice tour done by a very nervous newbie.  We said goodbye to Judy and Gordie and went back towards Prairie du Chien.  As we drove through Dubuque, Iowa, there were more churches with huge steeples.  Along the way we came across the Family Beer and Liquor store.
